I went and got 4 estimates average price came around 3000$. The appraiser from progresive came and saw my car yesterday and wrote a estimate for 1280!!! I have a 2007 toyota matrix with 45000miles on it..He is putting after markets parts on in cuz its high miles, along with a used Rim from a junkyard for 95$…I called the manager and told him that your estimate is too low he said to take the car to a repair facility and have them fix it…My question is that I dont want to fix my car right now but i want to be paid fair price for the damages the it has caused. So how should I go about doing this. should I get a appraiser from my insurance company and have him appraise it…I basically want to keep the money that i deserve and fix the damages at some other time…

I got hit, now their insurance co. wants to pay me less for my car instead of fix it. help?

i need advise from people who’s been in the same situation urgently. i got hit in the rear of my car in November, the insurance company of the girl that hit me recognized responsability- problem is they declared my car a total loss and prefered to pay me what my car’s worth in the market right now instead of fixing it. i took the car to evaluate the damage and it’s almost $7000- and the isnurance co. wants to pay me less than $5000. can you tell them i want my car fixed, not ur -$5000??? thyey also said they might take my car, and give me even less than $5000 if i decide to keep it, which would leave me without a car and with very little money (i’m not gonna find a decent car for the money they’d give me, i like my van so much) i find it kind of unfair to be left without a car for someone else’s irresponsability (after all, she hit ME!)

can you force the insurance company to fix the car??? is it up to them to decide wether to fix it or to pay you what’s worth now???

HELP!
no, i didn’t get hurt in the accident. should i say i did? lol. i hear some people do exagerate a bit, but i don’t think thwy’ll buy it. it was in november 8th.

Is that fair from the insurance cmpany?

I got into an accident. I have full insurance coverage. It was not my fault. The police came they did a report. They assigned the blame on the other driver. The other driver had the same insurance company like me. And she was given a ticket too.

I financed the purchase of my car. Total cost was $17,000. I have paid $7,000 up to now (did not do down payment). I still owe $10,000. The insurance company said my car can not be fixed. They are offering to pay me $10,000 which is the value of the car in the market. And that amount will go to the financing company. So I have to start from zero and look for a new car.

Is that fair? How about the $7,000 that I have paid already?

Should car insurance premium decrease as car depreciates?

OK, so if you keep your car for a long time you see a dramatic decrease in the fair market value of the car over the time you own it. It seems to me like after a certain amount of time, the cost to insure your vehicle (comprehensive coverage only) should decrease as the cars value decreases because if you do have a loss the cost to replace the vehicle would be much less than when it was new.

Both my cars are worth less than half they were when first purchased. When I contact the insurance company, they act like they do not understand this simple concept. Why would a $10,000 car cost the same to insure as it did when it was $25,000?? Does this make sense to anybody???

how much is this car’s insurance?

Insurance company problem?

My gf’s son was in an accident last Saturday; not his fault. Other driver pulled out in front of him and police have assigned full liability to that driver. His truck is a 86 Nissan D21 pickup and the damage is pretty bad. Estimate so far is about $3800 to fix and www.kbb.com lists this vehicle’s value at $2100 (actually had to use an 87 to compare; they don’t have older). Clearly the insurance is going to total the vehicle.

Yesterday we finally got the rental car (son is driving her car). Today the insurance company is telling her that she can only have the car till Saturday.

I’m thinking she keeps the car until the matter is resolved. That is, she has a check in hand for the market value of the vehicle or it is fixed.

Secondly: the check won’t cover fixing the vehicle yet it’s a great little truck and worth fixing. Engine appears to be fine as does the chassis. Can we sue the driver for the difference between the settlement and the repair?
I should say that the vehicle has maintenance records, which includes every tank of gas, going back 147,000 miles to the day it was driven off the lot by my gf’s cousin. It’s not replaceable in the sense that it really is a GOOD vehicle; never wrecked before this, ran like a top, always professionally maintained. That’s my contention regarding the diff. between market value and cost of repair.
FYI: the police report clearly states driver A: 100% liability, Driver B: 0% liability, Driver C: 0% liability

The insurance company has offered $750. www.kbb.com says $2100 and some ads I’ve seen in my general area go as high as 2400. I have a fight on my hands.

our was mini-van was smashed at the back.. it took 4 days before the car insurance company rented us a car. then after 4 days, a came from the company took a look at our mini-van and told us it might be totaled. then after 2 days, the car insurance called and said they will pay for the totaled car $2,500!!! the cost to repair is $2,700. We just got that mini-van a month ago for $5,000. the market value of the mini-van is $4,100. I thought that car insurance company always pay more than the market value.. so my husband told them we are not going to accept the 2,500 and we want the car to be fixed but they have not called us back til now. I think its so unfair just to pay us 2,500 and we just got the car a month ago for 5000. anyone wants to react there? and what should we do?
