Incentive ideas for marketing promotions/contests?

Thursday, November 26th, 2009
RYAN asked:

what would be a great incentive to offer to insurance agents who qualify for certain promotions I’ll run in the future. I’m looking for new and creative ideas and not the same old trips to somewhere, gift cards, branded company clothing/etc, or comission incentives. I’m looking for new ideas that are relatively gender neutral and would like to run more frequent promotions with less expensive items vs. prior years. So, I would like to focus on items ranging from $25 for smaller promotions to around $300 for my larger ones….items or services that are useful or handy around home or office, items that get used and don’t collect dust. They get enough of those things.

I’m considering Little Giant ladder systems or dash mounted GPS for vehicles but I’m not sure that women would respond to these as well as men. Men seem to be drawn to gadgets.

Any help is appreciated.

Do you know where I can learn basic market analysis?

arewethereyet asked:

I’m thinking of starting a business and want to determine if there’s a market in my area for what I am offering – secretarial, office space and bookkeeping services for small business owners and independent contractor-types.

But I don’t know enough about marketing to even begin, and I understand that my analysis is one of the most important things I’m going to do.

Do you know where I can turn to read up on what I should do? Hardcover book or online site is good. Thanks!

I’ve been put into a new position at work for a marketing coordinator. I’m currently under an outsourced director of marketing who is showing me some things and I’m being groomed to be his protege. I’m trying to learn as much about marketing as I can. Are there any good books out there I can buy at a Barnes Noble or Borders that will allow me to learn the basics about marketing?

Thanks.

How do I break into marketing with a non-traditional resume?

I am a very creative person who loves science but has grown tired of typical bench work. I will be completing my PhD this spring and I’d like to break into marketing and/or advertising, with a long-term goal of working for a pharmaceutical company in their marketing department. I have an excellent science background. I have some hand-on experience in marketing, advertising, and PR for groups I volunteer with (college alumni group and sorority), but I have no formal training in marketing and my experience is rather spread out over the years. Any advice on how to break into a marketing/advertising job? I know I’ll have to start at the ground and work my way up and I’m very willing to do it–how do I convince potential employers to take a chance? Thank you for all answers!

What is the difference between a marketing campaign and a promotion?

Lala asked:

My belief is that promotion is more broad than a marketing campaign (think the four p’s). A marketing campaign is found within promotion. I was also assuming a campaign is a strategy of speaking to a particular segment within your target. Is this the case? What if, for example, you have marketing activities you are doing specifically for Christmas. Could this be the Christmas promotion within a wider campaign?
